Letters of Samuel Wigglesworth, 1834-1837 (inclusive).

Consists of eighty letters by Samuel Wigglesworth to his father, Thomas Wigglesworth, and other family members, written while residing in Europe. He discusses the political situation, health conditions, and medical care, mentioning hospital visits and commenting on cholera outbreaks; and describes social events, the weather, students and sites of interest. He also mentions the names of many doctors and Americans visiting Paris.

Wigglesworth (Harvard, M.D. 1834) went to Harvard College (A.B. 1831) and following medical school traveled in Europe to complete his training, visiting London, Paris, Edinburgh, Dublin, and cities in Italy.
